The XTERRA ERG400 rower comes with an aluminum seat rail for smooth motion during catch and release, an angled LCD monitor, innovative frame design and 16 levels of electronic resistance to help you build muscle. Advanced and affordable, the ERG400 comes with maintenance-free operation and easy storage.
The features we found most prominent during our XTERRA ERG400 Rower review include:
XTERRA ERG400 Rower Features
- Extruded aluminum seat rail
- Built-in monitor
- Innovative frame design
- 16 levels of electronic resistance
- Magnetic and air resistance options
The XTERRA weighs 50.7 pounds when assembled, but the shipping weight is 71 pounds. During assembly, an extra pair of hands to help you move the box to your setup area is preferred, but not a necessity.
Relatively easy to assemble, it shouldn’t take you more than 45 – 60 minutes to assemble this rower from start to finish.
Taller users will be happy to know that the extended, aluminum seat rail allows you adequate room for your legs so that full range of motion is possible. Users that are 6’1” or taller will find that the motion is a little awkward at this height level, and that you’ll need to get accustomed to this rowing machine. The flywheel is designed to provide a real rowing experience and allows for two different resistance types: air and magnetic.
Air resistance is added the harder you row – so you never reach plateaus.
There are also 16 electronically-controlled resistance levels to choose from. These levels will allow you to have a consistent level of resistance at all times and is the perfect option for anyone that may lag behind on their workouts.
A form molded seat and handles allow for the utmost in comfort even during longer rowing sessions.
Users up to 250 pounds can safely use the rower, and the solid design ensures that even during intense rowing, the rower will not wobble or squeak. The adjustable-angle LCD display provides you with several workout metrics as well as programs specially designed for rowers of all levels. The display features:
- Strokes per minute
You can choose to use the built-in pre-set workout programs to help you find a routine that works perfectly for your current fitness level.
When you’re done with your rowing session, simply fold the machine up and move it out of the way.
- 16 resistance levels
- Foldable design for easy storage
- Steady and durable build
- Pre-set workout programs
- Display is hard to read
While you won’t get the advanced features that come with high-end models with the XTERRA ERG400, you will get a rower that’s able to withstand daily use and provides an impeccable workout. One thing to note is that the display is not backlit. When rowing, you’ll need to angle the display properly to be able to read the monitor without any issues.
Aside from the monitor not being backlit, my XTERRA ERG400 Rower review is extremely positive. Built-to-lost, this model is sturdy, easy to assemble and relatively quiet when rowing. There are more than enough metrics to gauge your workout, and you’ll be able to use this rower daily without fear of it breaking down in the process.
