LifeSpan has produced one of the best rowers on the market for users that live in smaller spaces. The RW1000 folds up to a very small size, which is a major bonus for those living in apartments. The LCD console provides accurate tracking of a user’s workout that is so precise, it is not normally seen at this price range.
Let’s see what the LifeSpan Fitness RW1000 rowing machine has to offer to users.
- Durability: Made from solid steel
- Storage: Folds up to just 34x19x64”
- Weight Limit: 300-pounds
- Monitoring: Three-LCD monitoring console
- Awards: 2008 excellence award
Assembly from start to finish should not take most users more than 30 minutes. This is due to the main piece being preassemble. All you need to do is attach the seat and bars, and you are ready to begin rowing.
Resistance is given through the 16.5 pound flywheel. While the debate over flywheels is always ongoing, the resistance is still superb. Users can easily adjust the resistance settings which allows for a more intense workout compared to other models in this price range.
In total, there are 5 levels of resistance provided.
Comfort is not a concern with the RW1000. The seat utilizes injected foam and is both sturdy and comfortable. Users can adjust the height between 11 and 14.5 inches, so finding the right height for you is simple and easy. The seat glides very smoothly on the rail with little resistance, which allows you to row quickly with no hiccups along the way.
The hand grips are comfortable and padded. The size of the grip is perfect for users with small and large hands alike. The foot rests swivel, and there is Velcro strap helps to secure your foot in place.
While we do have a complaint about the monitoring seen, it still provides a major strong point for the rower. The machine comes with a three-LCD console that will help you get the most out of your workout. This console monitors:
- Calories burned
- Strokes per minute
While basic, this is more than enough data to ensure you are working out hard during each and every session.
When rowing at a very high intensity, the front of the rower seems to lift off of the ground a little bit. This doesn’t allow some users to really go full throttle with this model for fear of breaking the machine.
Inaccurate Calorie Monitoring
If calorie burning is a concern, one of the biggest gripes with this model will be the calorie counter. While it works perfectly with the lowest level of resistance, it does not accurately adjust the calories burned when using a higher resistance and is not entirely accurate.
While the difference between level 1 and 2 resistance may not be much in terms of calories, it is disappointing to see that the monitor did not accurately reflect the calories burned at higher levels.
The LifeSpan Fitness RW1000 rowing machine is durable and comes backed with a plethora of positive user reviews. With a moderate price, the RW1000 is an exceptional piece of fitness machinery, and the comfort level seen is outstanding. The option to fold this rower up and place it in the corner is also a major selling point. Also make sure to check out our Kettler Kadett Rowing Machine Review for an affordable circular motion rower.
