Marcy Turbine NS-6050RE Magnetic Rowing Machine Review
A bit on the heavy side, lugging this rower into your home for assembly is a chore. But it’s worth the effort once you sit down and begin rowing. The assembly process is straightforward, and you’ll find that the total footprint (in terms of length needed to use this rower) is 86 inches.
The slide rail folds up neatly, allowing you to gently lean the rower towards you to use the castor wheels and move the rower into a different room or opposing corner.
But the rower is still quite heavy and the wheels are on the small side, so it may be difficult to move on thick carpet.
The folding option is nice for a flat or apartment where space may be limited.
When you sit on the seat, you’ll notice that it is adequately padded and will provide comfort for an entire rowing session. I was rowing for 45 minutes and didn’t feel any aches or pains from the seat.
Gliding smoothly, this rower is quiet and the steel frame is very durable. A maximum user weight of 300 pounds makes this machine a great choice for most users. The handlebar is foam-padded, too, and is one single unit, allowing for full range of motion.
Your feet will be placed on the adjustable footplates that have straps to keep your feet in place while adding to the comfort of your rowing machine.
In terms of monitoring and metrics, the on-board monitor allows you to keep track of your:
- Calories burned
No pre-set programs are included (most rowers don’t offer these programs), but you’re able to adjust between 8 different levels of magnetic resistance. These levels range from fairly easy to moderate.
While the highest resistance is difficult, it’s not impossible to move like other rowers. This is a good and bad thing, as some users complain that the resistance isn’t enough. But if you’re rowing fast and for an extended period of time, you’ll quickly realize that the resistance offered will more than suffice.
- Affordable and well-built
- 8 resistance levels
- Adequate monitoring
- Low noise production
The only con with the Marcy Turbine NS-6050RE rower is that it’s a bit on the heavy side. Unfortunately, this comes with the territory and is what you expect from a steel rower. Aside from this minor complaint, the Turbine is a durable, affordable and sturdy rower that is perfect for home use.
