Stamina 15-9003 Deluxe Conversion II Review
This isn’t your ordinary piece of exercise equipment, so you would expect the assembly process to be difficult. But, assembly took just under an hour. You’ll want to be attentive and follow the instructions step-by-step to ensure that assembly is done as quickly as possible.
Switching Between Modes
Modes, or the different types of machine options, are easy and fast to switch between.
A pull of a pin allows you to disengage the seat and row with ease. This is the same pin that you’ll need to keep the seat static on the rail when biking. Once the pin is removed, you’ll be able to glide normally on the seat for a catch and release.
The rail is long enough to accommodate most users.
When rowing, you’ll want to keep your back straight and away from the back of the chair to ensure that you’re in proper rowing form at all times. A ball bearing rolling system allows for a smooth glide with little to no resistance along the way.
When you want to enjoy a biking session, simply place the pin into the rail to keep the seat in place. You’ll find a variety of seat setting options so that tall and short users will be able to bike to their heart’s content.
The padded seat and back rest allow you to lean back and pedal with ease.
Footrests are comfortable, and there is a strap to keep your foot on the pedals at all times. Extra-large, a variety of foot sizes will be able to fit into the pedal and strap system.
The foam grips are very comfortable and have a pulse sensor built into the grips, so you can monitor your pulse level throughout your workout. If you’re trying to boost your stamina and endurance, monitoring your pulse is an essential option.
Top Bar Mode
This mode is simply the rowing mode performed when standing. You’ll have complete access to the row bar and will be able to adjust the magnetic tension to perform your own workouts. A few workouts that you can perform are:
- Upright rows
- Bicep curls
- Triceps extensions
You can get creative with the top bar to perform several muscle-building workouts. The addition of top bar mode allows for a complete workout that goes from cardiovascular health to working your biceps and triceps, among many other muscle groups.
Utilizing magnetic resistance, this machine provides a quiet rowing and biking experience, and 8 resistance levels. You’ll switch resistances with the turn of a dial, going from easy to difficult resistance modes in a matter of seconds.
The fitness monitor keeps you motivated and provides numerous exercise metrics that you’ll be able to follow. A few of the metrics included are:
- Calories burned
When you’re done exercising, you can pull up the back of the rower and wheel it next to the wall where you can place and lock the machine into the upright position. This position will allow you to maximize your space and store your rower / recumbent bike properly.
- A 3-in-1 design allows you to switch between workouts with ease.
- Magnetic resistance is great for moderate workouts and difficult on the highest level.
- Sufficient monitoring system that is accurate.
- Easy storage solution with built-in wheels for easy transport.
- Pulse monitoring is only available when biking.
I was disappointed to find that the pulse monitor was only on the recumbent seat handles and not on the actual rowing handlebar as well. This leaves you with the ability to track your heartrate when biking, and not when rowing.
If you’re someone that wants to make sure they maintain a specific heart rate, this is a dilemma.
For most people, having the pulse sensors only when biking won’t be much of an issue. Aside from this one small issue, the Stamina Conversion II excelled in every area. The resistance is perfect for beginner and moderate fitness levels, while the ability to perform workouts in three different modes allows you to work more muscles than a rower or recumbent bike could do on its own.
